Speaker package

09 Jul Speaker package

After Eloqui trainings, clients often ask “What’s next? How do I achieve my speaker ambitions?”

We recommend putting together your speaker package, customized to the organization you are pitching to. And because its summer, there is no better time to prepare for the coming year, especially since conferences typically book out a year in advance.

Create at least three separate topics, based on what your audience would find most valuable. In each brief description, include your experience and expertise as well as specific takeaways. Be current and cutting edge. Make sure each topic has a catchy title to attract audience attention. Collect testimonials and include a few with each submission.

If possible, assemble a speaker resume noting where and when you’ve spoken publicly; the title of each talk; and the response received.

Next, record 1 – 2 minute video clips of you speaking on your topic. Low-tech on a cell phone is fine. If your talk has been recorded, edit the footage of you on stage, as well as Q&A to show how you interact with an audience.

Don’t be overwhelmed. Once you have a speaker package, there’s no better way to advance your career or be seen as the go-to person in your field. Even if you are brought in to facilitate a panel or deliver a breakout session, do it. Don’t worry about fees. Work your way up to keynote speeches. It is well worth the effort.
