My book Out Front identifies women’s challenges around effective communication, and provides an operating manual for how to overcome them.

Negative stories we’ve told ourselves and repeated over time are the primary obstacles to reaching our full potential. When we clear the path, we can express ourselves without barriers.

A recurring motif for women is the need to be perfect — in our conduct, speech, and knowledge of subject matter. Striving for perfection stifles creativity and puts enormous pressure on us to succeed.

Women need to identify what makes us special, including how we are hardwired to behave, and how we construct and deliver stories. Once we embrace these differences, the next step is to fold them into every presentation and communication. This is when we will be most authentic. Be open to absorbing new techniques and ways of operating. Set aside fear, be introspective about your unique qualities, and trust you have the power to persuade.

Learning new techniques is a process. Establish working models and put them into play. Presenting well is a long term commitment, not a race to the finish line.
