This past week, the U.S. women’s soccer team brought home the World Cup. They are the most successful team in international women’s soccer, having won four World Cup titles, four Olympic gold medals, and eight Gold Cups. These athletes are in a class all their own, and in our opinion, awesome.
We thoroughly enjoyed watching the matches. The U.S. team played with courage and ferocity. They supported each other entirely. And they weren’t cowed by expectations of modesty or humility. These athletes brought a champion’s mindset into the arena and expressed themselves as leaders and role models for young women around the world.
After you have worked hard to be at the top of your game, and you have your moment, enter the arena and play for keeps. Don’t let what might be expected of you, or how you should behave get into your head. Keep your own counsel. Express yourself with determination and commitment. You will never regret showing up authentically and being fearless.
