16 Mar No Need for Speed
On a dawn hike, we took time to breathe in the fresh air and scenery in Santa Fe. Scanning arroyos, mountain ranges and miles of open space took us back in time, imagining when dinosaurs fed on grasses from the inland seas. Being in the moment and exercising observational skills tuned up our senses.
We looked up into a cerulean sky, painted with islands and rivers of silver clouds. Artists, writers (e.g. Gene Hackman) and retirees are drawn to this area because of the natural beauty and slower pace. It’s a sharp divergence from the speed and bustle of our former home, Los Angeles.
As a speaker, this world can be a difficult place in which to stand out. To find your differentiators, insights and singular perspective requires dawn hike time. Slow down and take in the subtle details of your environment. You will return enriched, and your ability to communicate will improve, no matter what topic you are presenting.
