06 Mar Plagued by Perfection?
Women professionals will sometimes come to me and say “I want to be more polished and perfect when I speak.” We need to change that thinking. Audiences don’t respond to a polished speaker, because they don’t seem genuine or authentic… Clients don’t do business with the smartest person in the room. They want someone who listens and cares about them… And most importantly, that kind of pressure that we put on ourselves will only make us anxious, or keep us from speaking in front of large audiences. How does striving for perfection affect you? Or have you somehow avoided this plague?
