Where Buffalo Roam

09 Nov Where Buffalo Roam

Recently, we returned to Ted Turner’s ranch near Raton, New Mexico. We couldn’t wait to share the wonder of Vermejo with old friends Kim and John. We all work hard, have busy lives and occasionally need to change the channel.

One excursion was to Bernal Lake at 10,000 feet. It was a chilly, windless morning. The only sounds were geese and coots, as well as the hum of our battery-powered motor. Then there was the whoosh of casting fishing lines into the still water. We shattered the calm with whoops of joy as rainbow trout were hooked and brought into the boat. Visions of a fish dinner danced in our heads. On the way back, bison herds ran alongside the truck, snorting and kicking up dust.

Many of us schedule our days with back-to-back work and chores. Although we are productive, this doesn’t allow for much fun. Especially when you’re preparing a presentation, your mind needs refreshers and stimulation in equal measure. Manage chaotic times with nature bathing, far away or in a nearby park. Seek environments that delight and stimulate your creative thinking, and your presentations will be more colorful and engaging, like pronghorns racing into the sunset.
