24 Mar Wild Women
During Women’s History Month we featured Caitlin Clark, Taylor Swift, and Cole Brauer, all outstanding young women. But 84-year-old Margaret Atwood has a lifetime of accomplishments, including two Booker prizes, as well as the National Book Critics and PEN Lifetime Achievement awards. She even invented the LongPen device to facilitate remote signing of documents.
We heard Atwood speak at the Santa Fe Literary Festival. She didn’t shy away from totalitarianism and abortion– the themes of her book and TV series, The Handmaid’s Tale. And she spoke passionately about women’s rights and (controversially) employing reason in political movements. Atwood is public with her opinions and fearless.
There are many women worth emulating. But your voice is your special gift. Speak out to advance your own field of endeavor. The reward will be a satisfying life, replete with purpose.
